[This is a reference to the club’s win of the 2005 Endeavour race. Apparently should be sung to the tune of Hiawatha! ]

Song of Silver

Long had stood the swiftest record
To complete Endeavour’s challenge,
In the land of Market Drayton.

From the south came the war party
Keen they were to prove their metal,
Strength, resolve and inclination.

Two braves from the land of Jethro
Raised they were on Cornish pasty.
A squaw to run the trivial errand as
Man called Keith had strangely vanished.

The wise man with the voice like thunder
And the one with hair like Barbie.
The warrior dressed like the rainbow,
As when the rain god meets the sun god,
With his brother long in arm half man half dog.

And to complete the party,
That man named Silver put together:
The she brave and the Lee brave
And the brave Kev Meister.

Under the watchful eye of Joby,
Marshall from the Abel Tasman.
In their kayak swift they travelled
In the waters of the northlands.

With their wise men there to guide them,
The braves strained every nerve and sinew.
To complete Endeavour’s challenge,
To impress the Lloyd’s Bank women.

Fifty miles fleet they journeyed;
Six twenty six the record broken.
Endeavour heaped her fruits upon them,
Team effort has its own reward.

Celebrations there were plenty
For Silver’s braves who’d won the booty.
Mystic chants incantations strange
Shameless those braves together sang
Praises to their man god of Karaoke .
