I’ve given the Bristol Canoe Club website a bit of spring clean: https://www.bristolcanoeclub.org.uk/

It has a new WordPress theme, which makes it look a bit cleaner, with easier navigation. The search function is now more prominent, and there is a tag cloud which you can use to filter the articles also (on the desktop this is at the right-hand side, on a mobile it is at the bottom). The articles are shown as short excerpts until you click into them, which means that there’s much less scrolling up-and-down.

Most relevantly, I’ve also properly migrated a lot of old content (between 1996 to around 2007) into the WordPress site. We used to have quite a few old trip reports, and old club magazines, all accessed by hand-created web pages. These _were_ just about accessible via the website, with a bit of searching. But I’ve now moved all of these into proper posts on the website, and I’ve dated these articles to approximately-correct dates (I wasn’t really writing a WordPress post in 1996!) There are now well over 200 posts available.

So I encourage you all to have a browse around the club website again. You can use the tags to find trip reports, club magazine articles, international trips, kayak racing, polo, beginners, videos, etc. You can also use the search bar to look for, for example, ‘Norway’.

The very old photo albums and [short] videos are hard to migrate into WordPress, so I’ve left those as they are, you can see these here:

And this is a page with lots of older, _long_ videos, transferred from VHS, from the 1990s and early 2000s:

I suggest that you have some fun browsing through some old trip reports, and for the youngsters in the club, you may be able to see some of what we were doing in the year you were born! 😁 😁 😭

There will be a few broken links, so if you find any, please tell me and I’ll try to fix them (email me direct, don’t reply to the whole club).

Finally, if anybody else would like to add their trip reports to the club website, please feel free! I can give a log in account to anybody who’s interested.
