Club Kit – Boats; Guidebooks; Cags etc…
A message from your Chairman
As most of you know, the club has a number of boats that members can pay to hire for use on trips. This is now being expanded to cover the hire of other additional items of kit that people use on rivers. So, there will now be a £3 fee for the hire of cag, spray-deck, helmet and paddles (As a whole set, or any single part). As usual, this fee is not payable if being used on the docks.
The club has also recently invested in a number of river guidebooks (English; Welsh; Scottish; Lakes and French Alps). These will be available for club members to use, and will be lent out for a £10 deposit. Again, these books need returning ASAP after trips, so they are available for other club members. Any one wanting to borrow one of the books, or a club cag needs to contact me directly to arrange it.
You may also know that the club has a Canadian canoe available for members use and that we are currently looking to buy a couple of sets of Canadian paddles and getting the seat repaired.
The use of club kit is based on an honesty system, which relies on people paying up when they have used the club kit.
To remind you all, the equipment officer should be contacted when booking out a boat – Boats are not to simply be removed from the cage – Current example is the S:7 – This needs booking out and paying for. (£5 per day, or £25 for a club holiday. e.g. France; Scotland). Tony sent an email earlier in the year asking that club boats be put back on the evening after a trip is finished so that they are available for ALL club members and not for sole use. This also means that boats should not be removed before they are wanted, as this also means they are unavailable for club members to use. Club boats should be available for all club members, not just a handful of individuals. Also to let you know, or more appropriately warn the offenders, the committee is discussing putting locks onto the more popular club boats within the cage simply because they are not being paid for when being used (Apologies to those this does not concern).
