Dear Members,

As many of you may know, I have had to take some time out from actual canoeing after fracturing my pelvis following a crash on the road bike. I still hope to attend in person the Club AGM on Tuesday October 22nd, if the medics permit me to climb stairs by then. Meanwhile, I hope as many of you can attend as possible and as Lisa said in her recent email, if you are interested in joining the Club Committee, I’ll be happy to provide more information on what’s involved by phone or email.

Our next big Club Event is the resurrection of our annual Racing Regatta, which is likely to be moved to Sunday October 20th. Mark Heeley has already received many applications to attend the race and has Paddle UK support. It should be a great spectacle and if any non-racing members are able to assist with marshalling both on and off the water, please contact Mark.

Lastly, we return to Bristol South Swimming Pool on the new day of MONDAY September 23rd of September. Usual format of a 8-00pm start for the General Session before Polo starts at 8-45pm. Last year we lost money on the pool, so I hope the membership will support these sessions during the winter.

We will be transferring boats from the Cage and the ISO Container. If you can lend a hand or help with transport, please contact Dave Brain for Cage Boats, and Lewis for Polo Boats.

Best wishes to you all and happy paddling – I’m envious!!

Mark Gillett
