The annual alps trip was to Briançon this year as per the normal every other year schedule. It was a small team of 8 paddlers plus little Paddy which made certain members of the trip very gooey-eyed.

In addition to the usual rivers near Briançon, we did a trip over to the Souloise. Steven and Sara will probably claim it is the most beautiful river in the world. They certainly aren’t far from the truth, however, perhaps they are a little biased. Steven got down on one knee in an eddy and proposed. It was absolutely wondrous to be able to capture their beaming faces as they paddled down to meet us while Dave opened a bottle of Champagne (we were in France).

The list of rivers we paddled (I think) (sorted vaguely geographically):
Upper Guisane
Lower Guisane
Briançon Gorge
Onde
Gyronde
Upper Guil
Chateau Queyras
Middle Guil
Sunshine Run (after Dave left, otherwise we would never have heard the end of it)
Souloise
Drac Blanc

Despite this being my sixth trip to the area I still managed to get two new ticks in my guidebook. Points for guessing which sections these are. But perhaps this trip will be remembered by all for something a little more special.
