Kim’s Mighty Descent
The weekend started by “Action Jackson” (Kim) picking up my Dad, my friend Kieran and I at 8:30 am. Then Kim and Dad started packing the car, and then Mum comes along and takes the cool bag out of the slow drivers car and guess what? It was Kim’s!!!!
Soon we set off and Dad and Kim started whittering on as usual about rivers and people flying into walls, so Kieran and me started to have a fight with sick bags, as usual I won!
When we arrived at Wye Valley canoes, we put all our equipment in big barrels, and then one hour later the other people arrived. After they got there, we loaded the canoes and set off. My Dad gave us expert tuition on how to paddle a canoe. We listened carefully!!!!
On the river there was a broken weir and Dad steered us sideways, so I got soaked and believe me it wasn’t funny.
We got to a pub and there was stroppy Harvey complaining about we how were late. Then we went into the pub and had a drink, and William and Alex (Harvey’s god son and friend) chased us ballistic. Soon we set off and we had to do a break out and my Dad and I did perfectly. The next major event was a Kim putting a massive hole in her boat, because she couldn’t steer and she hit only rock on the river. My Dad and Harvey teased Kim all night long.
Then we made camp for the night and Kim cooked a delicious chilli con carne. Then suddenly guess what happened? I fell in the river and my Dad went ballistic, and then I got changed. Soon one of the men decided to have a campfire and so collected loads of wood. Later he two little ones went to bed and Kieran and I stayed up and played with the campfire. Meanwhile, we all went to bed. The next morning Kieran and me woke up and got changed. Later the other people didn’t get up, so Kieran and me decided to throw tennis balls at their tents. Except one, and it was Kim’s so we thought… “Ah ha” said Zachary, why don’t we chuck a barrel at her tent????
NNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR- far too dangerous!!!
So 5000 years later she got up and cooked us bacon and egg sandwiches, and they were quite nice. After we got on the river and packed the stuff, Kieran and me had an argument. We also played canoe polo with a bit of floating wood. Later we got to the end, and Wye Valley Canoe people were there to take us home.
Thank you Kim, we thought this trip was brilliant and we are looking forward to your next camping trip on a river with lots more massive rapids.
